PreK - Kindergarten

Students will accomplish the following across all curriculum:

• identify different parts of the computer
• basic use of the mouse, drag and drop, sizing of images
• basic layout of the keyboard and the power keys, e.g. enter, spacebar, shift
• listen and follow directions both from teacher and educational software
• work interactive websites with the use of a mouse
• learn when to use essential keyboard tools, e.g. space bar, tab, enter keys
• use age appropriate digital tools to find information
• locate information
• identify a problem and begin developing critical thinking skills in order to analyze and solve the problem
• develop a sense of respect for others, digital equipment, and the cyber community
• demonstrate an understanding of the operation of digital systems in all curricular areas and at all grade levels
• use simple features and functions of a computer
• choose age and subject level appropriate software and hardware resources
• transfer knowledge to new technology
• recognize that a system is not working correctly
• understand the difference between design and development
• integrate basic concepts of technology mathematics, science and engineering
• collaborate with their peers to solve problems technologically

Grades 1-2

Students will accomplish the following across all curriculum:

• identify the basic features of a computer and their functions.  Use technolgy terms as part of student vocabulary
• keyboard familiarity including "home row" keys and finger placement
• load and execute various software via the mouse or keyboard
• print documents to selected printers
• create sentences and stories with accompanying clipart in educational software
• develop critical thinking and communication skills
• use age appropriate digital tools to find information
• explore to find relevant information
• observe relationsips in data
• identify, research and collect data on a specific issue
• explore and depict patterns
• collect and analyze data to identify solutions and/or make informed decisions
• use multiple processes and diverse perspectives to explore alternative solutions
• develop a positive attitute toward digital technology uses that support lifelong learning and collaboration
• have the ability to create through the application and appropriate use of digital technological resources
• understand basic features and functions of a computer
• use technology terms in daily practice
• choose age and subject level appropriate software and hardware resources
• troubleshoot systems and applications that are appropriate for their grade level
• identify the resources needed to create technological products and systems
• describe how the parts of a common toy or tool interact and work as part of a system

Grades 3-5

Students will accomplish the following across all curriculum:

• create a document with proper formatting, page numbering, spacing and graphics using word processing software
• create an original multimedia presentation, based on a chosen subject, to include graphics and indexing
• create a simple spreadsheet with data entry
• understand legal and ethical requirements when gathering facts and information for assignments
• use the internet search engines for classroom research
• use web-based resources to improve writing skills
• use in-house educational software to expand language art skills
• independently use age-appropriate digital tools to find information in all curriculum areas
• use effective search techniques
• summarize/paraphrase information
• cite sources of information
• identify, research and collect data on a specific issue
• explore and depict patterns
• collect and analyze data to identify solutions and/or make informed decisions
• use multiple processes and diverse perspectives to explore alternative solutions
• demonstrate ability of awareness of others when using technology

• expand their knowledge of digital tools and their use
• realize the effect digital communication has with interpersonal relationships
• independently use digital tools to find information
• use effective search techniques
• identify primary and secondary sources of information
• information for relevancy
• summarize/paraphrase research findings with academic integrity using electronic sources
• cite sources
• identify and define authentic problems and significant questions for investigation
• plan and manage activities to develop a solution or complete a project
• collect and analyze data to identify solutions and/or make informed decisions
• use multiple processes and diverse perspectives to explore alternative solutions
• demonstrate the ability to use telecommunications to collaborate, publish, and interact with peers, experts, and others
• develop a variety of media and formats to communicate information and ideas effectively
